Abstract
A description is given of features and applications of the software and hardware developed for the home bus controller Japanese Home Bus System (HBS). The network terminations for the twisted-pair wire home bus controller (TP-HBC) applicable to voice/nonvoice terminal remote handling services are described. The authors discuss various application systems, including three experimental terminal services for attaining a compact, flexible, and expandable TP-HBC consisting of one dual microprocessor. It was seen that the designed process scheduler can achieve adequately short switching time for experimental and typical application service implementations. The essential functions and applications were experimentally confirmed, and the global communication capabilities of this TP-HBC were also found satisfactory.
