Abstract
The authors describe the conformance test system for components meeting the EIAJ (Electronic Industries Association of Japan) standard on home bus systems for connection to Home Bus Systems (HBSs). This system is designed for the conformance tests for OSI layers 1 and 2. The system performs four test processes for the required test items defined in the standard for HBS. They are: analyze signal sent out from the IFU (interface unit) under test; apply a test frame to the IFU and analyze its response; send a response signal for the signal sent from the IFU and analyze its response; and send connection pulses to the IFU and analyze its response. The conformance test system described can perform all the conformance tests for the operations specified in layer 2. The conformance tests of terminals in layer 1 (CSMA/CD) were also possible using the present test system.
