Abstract :
This English speech training system analyzes a student´s pronunciation and shows the result in a graphic display. The system consists of an 8 bit personal computer (MSX or MSX2) with 3.5 in. floppy-disk drive and 64 kB RAM, an adaptor for the English speech training system, a headset, a textbook and model speech disk, and an RGB color monitor. The adaptor consists of a speech memory RAM, a basic program ROM, analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters, an interface, and a speech-signal amplifier. The signal processing is done by the Z80A central processing unit of the personal computer. The training includes vowel pronunciation training and rhythm intonation training in English.
