Abstract :
The field of microwave engineering is rapidly shifting toward commercial and consumer applications. Electromagnetic wave phenomena are becoming a limiting factor in digital circuit operation, and wireless communications is penetrating into the millimeter-wave frequencies. The design of modern microwave devices circuits and systems under constraints of low costs low volume, small size, high reliability and modern fabrication and integration technologies requires the understanding and application of field theory based numerical design tools. Following these requirements this special issue of the IEEE Microwave Magazine, edited by Natalia Nikolova, is dedicated to Electromagnetic Software in Microwave Engineering. This area is within the terms of reference of the Microwave Field Theory Technical Committee MTT-15. We take the opportunity to have a look on the activities of MTT-15 to enhance and improve the benefits for the Microwave Community in that area.
