Abstract
An overview is given of tools and systems used to support power dispatch and other duties of the typical power system operations department. The major issues faced in systems integration are identified. The path taken by one company to integrate energy management systems (EMS), workstations, desktop computers, networks, and applications is described. The architecture presented allows the distribution of real-time operations data throughout the company, from EMS to power plants to district offices, on an unprecedented scale.<>
