Abstract :
Current low momentum (¿500 MeV/c) high acceptance (¿5 msr) kaon beam lines feature high ratios of charged contaminant particles to kaons. The results of computer calculations on scattering and pion production from K¿S decay are presented to indicate some of the sources of this contamination. Criteria for the design of beam lines are discussed and a new beam line design is proposed.
