Abstract :
The letter describes the construction and performance of a novel ring-laser rotation-sensing system designed to evaluate the limit of accuracy obtainable when known sources of inaccuracy have been minimised. The probable cause of the residual system inaccuracy is discussed, and proposals are made for dealing with it.
