Abstract :
The SKYMNK has been found to be an easy to use device that gives the LSI-11/23 a very significant boost in computing power. It is capable of analysing data at speeds comparable to the VAX. In addition the MNKLIB routines give easy access to buffers in the extended memory so that large data buffers are practical. Consequently the experimenter can use an easy to program high speed processor that gives easy acess to the extended memory and the need to move the data to the VAX for analysis is reduced. The SKYMNK does not significantly interfere with CAMAC DMA devices and introduces much less interrupt latency than does the use of the LSI extended instruction set.
