Abstract
The administrative committee of the IEEE Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control Society takes great pleasure in announcing the selection of the Outstanding Paper published in its 2000 Transactions, Vol. 47. The award winners are Timothy A. Ritter, Xuecang Geng, K. Kirk Shung, Patrick D. Lopath, Seung-Eek Park and Thomas R. Shrout, for their paper "Single Crystal PZN/PT-Polymer Composites for Ultrasound Transducer Applications". The paper appeared in the July 2000 issue, pages 792-800. This paper is a very detailed and very well organized discussion on single crystal-polymer composites ultrasound transducers. The reported results, e.g. the impressive bandwidth, represent a significant amount of work, especially the experimental construction and measurements. The paper also contains a comprehensive comparison to prior work as well as an excellent discussion relating improved performance to basic material properties. I???d like to add that the recipients of the Outstanding Paper Award for the year 2000 are famous researchers in the field of ultrasonic transducers and well known to most members of our society.
