Abstract
Capital-intensive companies and organizations that purchase long-life industrial equipment, such as the transit agencies and railroad companies, often have language in their procurement specifications that define the useful life of the equipment and the necessary tools and equipment to maintain their defined life-cycle. However, if the organization is not structured around life-cycle maintenance then these long-term objectives will surely become just an unrealistic hope.
