Abstract :
This letter describes an electromagnetic suspension, using a resonant LCRcircuit which modifies the force/distance characteristic between magnetised bodies to give a statically stable characteristic. The use of capacitors, however, introduces a time lag between the force variation and position variation, and results in instability. This instability appears to depend on such factors as the inductance/distance variation, the supply frequency and the initial inductance.
