Abstract
William (Bill) W. Managan passed away in December 1983 in Knoxville, Tennessee, USA. Trained as a physicist, Bill worked extensively in the field of nuclear radiation detection. He was employed at Technology for Energy (TEC), where he designed detectors and electronic systems for radiation monitoring. Prior to joining TEC, Bill served as one of two Associate Division Directors at Argonne National Laboratories. Previously, he had been Director of Sales of Harshaw Chemical Corporation, Crystal Solid-State Division, and also Chief Engineer of Victoreen Instrument Company. During World War II Bill worked at the Naval Research Laboratory in radar research.
