Abstract :
Radio propagation experiments have been conducted to evaluate the performance of space diversity in quiescent indoor scenarios at 40 GHz. The optimum antenna separation for spatial diversity reception, in terms of branch signal correlation, has been found to be 10lambda. The corresponding diversity gain, for an outage probability of 1%, ranges from 3 to 5 dB, depending on the combination technique used From these results, we conclude that a spatial diversity technique at the receiver is adequate to reduce signal fading and to improve the radio system performance.
