Abstract
A performance analysis of the l p norm back propagation algorithm for adaptive equalisation with 1⩽p ⩽2 is presented. Expected learning gains in both training mode and decision directed mode are analysed taking into account the effect of p . Simulation results for convergence properties and bit error rate (BER) performance are consistent with the analysis
