Planar analogue of the Earth-ionosphere waveguide

The analytical basis is given for the planar microwave dual model used to study v.l.f. propagation in the spherical Earth-ionosphere waveguide. Earlier ideas on the subject are extended to simulate not only Earth curvature but also finite ground conductivity. The latter may be accomplished by means of a conductive strip placed at the centre of the guide.
