Title :
Use of bistatic radar techniques to improve resolution in the vertical plane

Abstract :
This letter shows that the normal limitations on radar performance relating to resolution in the vertical plane may be considerably reduced in certain instances by the use of bistatic techniques. A particular feature of the technique is that the vertical dimension of the resolution cell is primarily dependent on the transmitted bandwidth, rather than the vertical aerial aperture. The volume of cover over which this improvement in resolution can be maintained is limited to the region around the vertical plane containing both the transmitter and receiver.
