  • Abstract
A novel set of integrodifferential equations is formulated for the analysis of electromagnetic scattering and radiation by three-dimensional homogeneous dielectric bodies. The use of the Stratton-Chu integrals, the Atkinson-Wilcox and multipole representations of electromagnetic fields underlies the considered approaches. The equations are reduced to the infinite algebraic systems solved in a truncated representation. The results obtained by the numerical solution of these systems have been mutually compared and they have been shown to be in agreement. The investigation of convergence and time efficiency of the algorithms have been performed by the solution of the scattering problem for a cube and sphere excited by plane waves. Resonant regimes of dielectric cubes and spheres excited by probes have also been studied and the numerical results have been compared against the results predicted by the approximate theory of dielectric resonators. The convergence criterion for the Atkinson-Wilcox expansion has been formulated.
