Existence of self-sustained oscillations in relay-type systems with hysteresis

A geometrical interpretation of Hamel´s conditions for the existence of self-sustained oscillations in relay control systems with hysteresis is presented. On the basis of this interpretation, simple sufficient conditions are derived which ensure the absence of periodic motions, avoiding the necessity of solving the involved Hamel´s relations.
