Abstract :
A species-specific biosensor is presented based on the combined use of a reflection mode long period fibre grating with nanoscale self-assembly. Self-assembled polyelectrolyte layers and the immobilisation of immunoglobulin G (IgG) were used for sensor fabrication. The sensor´s fringe position shift induced by specific antigen-antibody binding has been observed, and non-specific binding was minimised with binding block. The results show the feasibility of the sensor for various bio/chemical applications.
