Abstract :
The generalized conservative staircase broadcasting method has a better performance in terms of the combination of the subscriber´s access latency, buffer requirement and disk I/O transfer rate as compared with the conservative staircase broadcasting method. However, it may cause a film to become discontinuous at a subscriber´s site. In this work, we first point out the defect and explain how it causes the film to become discontinuous. Then we present an advanced generalized conservative staircase broadcasting method to ensure continuity. Finally, we analyze that the proposed method keeps the same performance as the conservative staircase broadcasting method .
