Abstract
In analog hardware, one can use low-pass filters to approximate expectation operators for signals corrupted by multiplicative noise. A simple expression for a bound on the performance of such approximations is developed. Since the expression involves only factors that are likely to be known or easily measured, it can be useful for design work. The expectations are useful both for filtering and for use in various adaptive systems
