Abstract
It is pointed out that the problem of emitter detection and location in unknown spatially correlated noise fields is not solvable unless appropriate restrictions are imposed on the emitter signals or the noise field. A simple example is included to show that two recently proposed methods for solving the unrestricted problem of array processing in spatially correlated noise may give highly biased results
