Electron Beam Recording of Digital Information

An electron recording system for a high density read-only photographic memory has been developed. The information has been recorded at speeds up to 10⁶ bits/sec with a stotage density of 10⁶ bits/cm². After processing, the information can be read back optically at 10⁶ bits/sec. The high recording speed given by the electron beam technique makes it possible to extend the use of photographic memories to systems requiring frequent updating or systems with capacities of more than 10⁸ bits.
