Contribution to the theory of phase-angle loci

Phase-angle loci for a rational function which has two zeros or two poles only are shown to be portions of rectangular hyperbolas. Simple rules are given for selecting appropriate portions from a prepared family of such curves. An application to root-locus plotting is described.
