Abstract :
The 17 articles in this special issue focus on solid-state lighting technology. Topics covered include organic light emitting diodes, high brightness GaN-based LEDs, device physics and processing, inorganic phosphors, techniques for improved light extraction, and a description of the next generation lighting initiative of the U.S. Department if Energy. This issue was jointly prepared with the IEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Quantum Electronics and co-distributed to subscribers of IEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Quantum Electronics.
