Abstract
For CPFSK lightwave systems with noncoherent detection using a Fabry-Perot filter, the optimum frequency deviation is determined experimentally when the EFM response is nonuniform, as for a single-electrode DFB laser, and the filter bandwidth is narrow. Owing to the passband response of the optical filter, the optimum frequency deviation is considerably larger than that for a heterodyne receiver.
