Abstract
A semiconductor optical amplifier detector with an improved responsivity, obtained using two contacts is demonstrated. It is shown hat up to 16 dB improvement in detected output voltage may be obtained for a semiconductor optical amplifier with an internal gain of 30 dB. Initial experimental results showing a 4 dB improvement are presented.
