Abstract :
The economics of oil and concerns about the disposal of traditional plastic make it increasingly profitable to look at alternatives. Bioplastics are the result. Scientist have been looking to nature for inspiration for new generation of plastics. The paper reports that the catalysts for their development has been the advances in synthetic biology techniques.
