Abstract :
This article presents the results of a survey carried out on a few thousand IEEE members - both working "engineer/technology professionals" as we refer to them, and student members. The questions focused on the motivation and inspiration which prompted the respondents to enter this field. The survey also enquired about salaries, prestige, skills requirements, and potential educational subjects.
