Abstract
Editor´s Note: The architecture of the 701 has been described in previously published papers and is mentioned by several authors in this issue. The references in the following paper by Nathaniel Rochester (especially Bashe et al., 1981, and Astrahan and Rochester, 1952) are recommended for readers who want further details. Rochester mentions assemblers and refers to William F. McClelland, so we asked McClelland to provide the accompanying remarks on assemblers.
