Abstract :
The VIA-ESPRIT algorithm is a computationally efficient method for direction of arrival (DOA) estimation. This algorithm uses virtual interpolated arrays (VIA) to apply ESPRIT type techniques to arbitrary array geometries. The paper presents a performance analysis of VIA-ESPRIT. Expressions for the bias and the variance of the estimation errors are derived. Simulation results verify the theoretically predicted performance
