Abstract :
The transient excitation of a magnetic plate is examined using a digital simulation technique which represents both hysteresis and eddy-current effects in the magnetic material. Computed values are given for steels and alloys with a range of magnetisation characteristics which are subjected to impact excitation. More realistic types of transient magnetisation are then considered and some measured test results for mild steel plate show reasonably good agreement with predicted values.
