Abstract :
Harriett B. Rigas, a member of the IEEE Board of Directors as Computer Society Division V Director as well as a former member of the Computer Society Board of Governors, died July 26 in East Lansing, Michigan, USA. Death was attributed to kidney and lung cancer. Graveside services were held in Michigan July 29. An IEEE Fellow and distinguished educator and administrator, Rigas, 55, was a veteran IEEE and Computer Society volunteer and held a number of posts in the institute dating back to 1974-75 when she was a member of the Spokane (Washington) Section Executive Committee. She served on the society´s board from 1984 to 1986 and was in her second year as a member of the IEEE board at the time of her death.
