Self-Study Questions & Answers

The purpose of the department is to: 1. Provide information relating to the history of the information-processing field in the form of questions and answers. 2. Provide lists of source material for further selfstudy on topics relating to the questions. 3. Suggest occasionally some questions that have either (a) no answer or (b) controversial answers. In the four previous sets of questions, readers have been encouraged to send in suggested questions (and answers, with cited source material) , but none have been received. This set of questions covers part of the wide spectrum of material that is included in the Annals of the History of Computing. Specifically, there are questions dealing with hardware, software, and organizations.
