Title :
The Power Engineering Society new publication policy "implementation"
Abstract :
The major improvement has been in our Transactions. For many years all of our Transactions papers have been published in our monthly IEEE Transactions on Power Apparatus and Systems (PAS). While all the papers have been unquestionably of a high quality, there have been a number of comments from our members. Some of the comments that I received were "Too many worthless papers," "Too much wasted paper in PAS, only read one or two papers per issue," "PAS costs too much." Consideration of these and similar remarks led us to conclude that PAS was too all inclusive. The subject matter covered too broad a spectrum. An individual member was not interested in all the areas with the result that many of the papers were considered "worthless" because they were not in his particular field. What now appears to be the obvious solution was to split PAS up into several parts according to general interest areas. This we have done. PAS has now been replaced by three separate Transactions. Each Transactions is issued quarterly and will contain 180 to 360 pages each issue.
