Abstract :
Previously, we introduced the concept of an independently center-fed dipole array (ICDA) to overcome phase nonlinearities in many ultrawideband (UWB) and short-pulsed antennas. In this letter, we analyzed the efficiency of ICDA. We designed a two-element ICDA antenna for UWB systems. Extensive simulations were conducted to characterize the antenna in terms of transmission coefficient S21, radiation pattern, and time-domain patterns. The array exhibits linear amplitude and phase in the frequency range from 2.6 to 11.8 GHz, broader than the allocated UWB frequency range of 3.1-10.6 GHz. Such concept may be scalable to a much broader bandwidth
