Abstract :
γ-radiation-induced loss spectra were measured in a radically new optical fibre with a refractive index profile shaped by nitrogen-doped silica. The fibre showed unique radiation resistance comparable only to the best results for pure silica core fibres and much better than the radiation resistance of germanosilicate fibres
