Abstract
The authors discuss the enhancements that have recently been implemented in the digital design lab course at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor (USA). The purpose of the course is to expose students to the tools and techniques of digital design, so that all the basics skills needed for the design, development, and implementation of small microprocessor-based systems may be acquired. Novel laboratory experiments, project assignments, and lecture material were developed to more successfully introduce students to modern digital design tools and techniques. The Hewlett-Packard 64000 logic development system is used as a basis for all laboratory activities
