Abstract :
It is shown that a dual-wavelength photonic network using fibre amplifiers is capable of providing the wide-area trunking of hundreds of compressed digital TV channels and multigigabit data networking. Tens of service modes spreading over hundreds of kilometres are possible with improved reliability and graceful upgrade.
