Abstract
The cutoff rate of Rician and Rayleigh channels characterized by time correlated fading is derived for M -ary phase shift keying (MPSK) modulation. It is useful for situations where perfect interleaving cannot be achieved. It indicates the practical achievable information rate of the channel when coding is employed. It is used to determine the potential coding gains of coded modulation over the correlated fading channel
