  • Abstract
This paper examines the scientific and practical reasons why the energy development programs of virtually all of the developed countries continue to pursue the development of fusion energy despite the many challenges that they have to face. If it can be successfully developed, fusion offers an attractive, sustainable, environmentally benign, and economic source of energy.
