Abstract
As an undergraduate text of some 180 pages, the book provides a comprehensive treatment of linear differential and difference equations from a systems viewpoint. In this context, the book should find wide application by undergraduate students in engineering and computer science, and, in particular, areas of physics and mathematics. There is a welcome emphasis throughout the text on application, and the supporting problems and examples are selected from both the electrical/electronic and mechanical disciplines. The increasing emphasis on the discrete approach to system analysis (by virtue of the current availability of computer-aided techniques) has been recognised by the author and integrated within the overall methodology at an adequate level. Similarly, the equivalence of ´timedomain´ and ´frequency-domain´ interpretations of system response are emphasised and illustrated.
