  • Abstract
A short personal account is given of the author´s long association with S.O. Rice and their common interests in noise modelling and nonlinear processing. This association started during World War II and continued until Rice´s death. Some personal history is provided, and the early and continuing influence of Rice´s work, particularly his Mathematical Analysis of Random Noise (see Bell Syst. Tech. J., vol.23, p.282-332, July 1944; vol.24, p.46-156, Jan. 1945) on the author´s research in noise modelling, scattering, and signal processing is traced. Selected references, recent and older, are included to illustrate this stimulation and influence
