Abstract :
An approximate method for solving for the volume current density of SGEMP electrons is presented. The approximation follows the motion of the collisionless electron gas using a fluid-like model. The electric and magnetic fields computed with a recently implemented 3-D version of the model are compared with those computed using a conventional 2-D particle-pushing code. The test problem selected is a low fluence, interior emission case. The counterstreaming of the electrons emitted from the front and back walls of the cavity interior provide a stressing test of the fluid-like model.
