Abstract
In order to realize a narrow track recording mechanism for VCRs, the concept of DTF (dynamic track following) system using a small actuator was developed. A major problem in the DTF system for high-density recording lies in the mechanical vibration characteristics of the small actuator which moves the head. A damping control system with a velocity feedback loop for realizing high-performance DTF system is described, and this velocity feedback system makes it possible to markedly suppress the first mode vibration of the small actuator
