Abstract
Results are presented on the development of a Xenon-filled gas scintillation proportional counter camera for application in X-ray astronomy. The camera, with a seven photormultiplier readout system in its basic form, features a bandwidth spanning two decades in energy from about 0.2 keV to 20 keV and exibits spatial and energy resolutions of about 1.7 mm and 9% EWHM at 6 keV respectively. The camera when coupled to a grazing-incidence irraging or coded mask telescope will provide data, as a function of energy on the X-ray morphology of extended X-ray sources such as clusters of galaxies and supernova remnants.
