Abstract :
A novel multiplexed optical sensor permitting absolute length measurement in remote reflective sensor arrays is proposed. Based on optical low-coherence reflectometry, this technique has been used to demonstrate length measurements to within 10 μm for 6-m sensor cables situated 70 km from the receiver.
