The moniT Project: Electromagnetic Radiation Exposure Assessment in Mobile Communications

The monIT project provides public information on population exposure to electromagnetic fields (EMF) from mobile communication systems in Portugal. The monitoring system is based on a network of autonomous remote probing stations, and also on an extensive EMF sounding program, both carried out in public areas across the country. Measured results are automatically uploaded to a Web site for public dissemination (http://www.lx.it.pt/monit), which also includes other relevant information about EMF for the general public. This paper describes the project´s structure, the automatic monitoring system, the project´s activities, and, finally, it presents a brief analysis of the measured results
