  • Abstract
    A previously unknown rotation rate error source in fibre-optic gyroscopes is identified and investigated quantitatively with a new advanced simulation tool. The simulations show cases of considerable bias errors for gyroscopes with a Lyot depolariser and an integrated optics circuit. Influences of the depolariser length and the initial degree of polarisation are discussed.
