Abstract :
The author traces the history of the Electrical Association for Women from its inception in 1924 to its dissolution in December 1986. It was founded by the Women´s Engineering Society to explain the benefits of domestic electricity to ordinary women through educational programmes, lecture-demonstrations and publications. By the 1970s the Association had achieved its aim of educating the lay public about electricity, and the Association voted itself out of existence in 1986.
